Web design agencies in Kansas City

Straight Line Web Solutions

Straight Line describes itself as a digital marketing and HubSpot partner agency that builds responsive sites on WordPress and helps clients across the U.S. Its contact page has a tool to estimate a project’s cost. Try the estimate first, then ask whether HubSpot is required or if the site can stand alone.

Web design agencies in St. Louis

Be Aligned Web Design

Be Aligned says it starts with messaging through its Alignment Activation framework, then launches a custom site and works on SEO, with a promise to rank you on the first page of Google. It replies to forms within one business day. If you hear that promise on a call, ask which terms count and for how long.

Beanstalk Web Solutions

Beanstalk calls itself an established St. Louis web development company, offers WordPress sites and custom web applications, sells hosting and maintenance, and is an Optimizely Bronze Partner. A larger organization already on Optimizely has a named match here. Ask how many of its recent projects used it.

Hub & Spoke

Hub & Spoke offers web design, WordPress development, branding, print and content marketing, including nonprofit sites, and reports Horizon Interactive Awards recognition. Its site footer describes it as a Dakota Group company. Ask who at Hub & Spoke would lead your project, and to see recent work.

Web design agencies in Springfield

RiotAct Studios

RiotAct says it has made websites since 2008 and offers design, WordPress development, and hosting and email. It also writes about its own tools, such as a billing and support system and a CSS platform, and about WooCommerce Memberships. A membership site can ask to see that work, and how it would be handed over.

Hook Creative

Hook describes itself as a small studio focused on brand identity and design, with messaging, websites and print. It fits a business that knows its look or message needs work before pages do. Ask for a website-only quote if your brand is already settled.

Missouri’s customized software test

Missouri’s rule on taxation of software, 12 CSR 10-109.050, says the sale of customized software, “where the true object or essence of the transaction is the provision of technical professional service, is treated as the sale of a non-taxable service.” It warns that minor changes to canned software are not enough to qualify, and it says the sale of software as a service is not subject to tax.

The rule does not mention websites. A site built to your order and a template with light edits may land differently, and a subscription site raises its own question. Ask for an itemized quote, and put a specific contract to the Missouri Department of Revenue, which issues letter rulings to the taxpayer who asks. The Missouri Secretary of State holds business records for checking a contract’s legal name.

Messaging work and the Kansas line in Missouri

How much does messaging work matter?

It depends on whether you can already explain what you do in a sentence. If you can, ask Beanstalk, RiotAct or Straight Line about a build. If you cannot, Be Aligned and Hook both begin there.

Should a Kansas City business look on both sides of the state line?

Yes. Our Kansas page lists firms in Overland Park, and Straight Line is the Missouri-side option here. Ask any of them which state’s rules they apply to your invoice.

Where to start in Missouri

If you want a site tied to HubSpot, begin with Straight Line. For a custom web application in St. Louis, ask Beanstalk, and for nonprofit and print work, ask Hub & Spoke. Service businesses unsure of their message can talk to Be Aligned, and Springfield owners can choose between RiotAct for WordPress and Hook for brand-led projects.

We read these companies’ sites in November 2026 and did not test any promises they make. Their order on this page does not rank them.
