Web Design Agencies In Illinois
Listed
Illinois’s tax rule says custom programs made to a customer’s special order are not taxed, while canned software is, so how a build is scoped can affect your bill. Five agencies appear here. Clique Studios works with enterprises and associations, Cybernautic has offices across the state, and the suburban pair are built around small and mid-sized businesses. A list this short for Illinois is a starting set, not a survey of Chicago’s market.

Web design agencies in Chicago
Idea Marketing Group
- Phone: (469) 240-3913
- Website: https://www.ideamktg.com/
Idea Marketing says it was founded on July 15, 2009 in Chicago’s West Loop. Its named work includes a nonprofit WordPress site for BPI Chicago, and clients such as Bridgford Foods and The Patio appear on its page, one of them for hosting. The phone number it lists has a Texas area code, so ask where your project team sits and who you would meet with in Chicago.
Clique Studios
- Address: 20 N. Wacker Drive, Suite 1238, Chicago, IL 60606
- Phone: 312-379-9329
- Email: buildsomething@cliquestudios.com
- Website: https://cliquestudios.com/
Clique names WordPress and Webflow and lists brands including Southwest, Hilton, Northwestern and Delta Dental. Its current writing focuses on association websites and enterprise systems. It also shows a Denver address and says someone will reach out within 24 hours. An association should ask about the membership and microsite work it describes.
Cybernautic
- Address: 2404 E. Empire, Bloomington, IL 61704; Chicago office at 515 N State St, Suite 14-126
- Phone: (309) 827-8202 or (312) 878-1986
- Website: https://www.cybernauticdesign.com/
Cybernautic says it has worked for more than two decades and lists Bloomington, Chicago, Champaign and Peoria locations on its site. It offers custom web design, a custom map and locator tool, SEO and PPC, and McLean County Regional Planning Commission appears among its work. Businesses with several branches should ask to see the locator in use.
Web design agencies in Aurora
Aguilera Web Design
- Address: Aurora, IL
- Phone: (630) 448-2535
- Website: https://aguilerawebdesign.com/
Aguilera describes itself as a local team in Aurora that handles design, managed hosting, updates, security and SEO in one place, and it shows projects such as a restaurant and a landscaper. It prefers to recommend one approach over packaged choices. Ask for the monthly hosting and care fee at the outset, since it says you will have one team for all of it.
Web design agencies in Naperville
Blackbird Digital
- Address: 1230 E. Diehl Rd., Suite 107, Naperville, IL 60563
- Phone: (630) 553-0000
- Website: https://www.blackbird-digital.com/
Blackbird says it works with small, medium and enterprise businesses, draws on over 25 years of results, and starts with brand research and discovery. Paid advertising and SEO lead its page, and it promotes a plan called flightpath with a savings figure. Ask what flightpath includes and whether a website project can be bought alone.
Custom programs and canned software under Illinois rules
Section 130.1935 of the Illinois Administrative Code says “Custom computer programs prepared to the special order of the customer are not subject to tax” under the state’s four retail and service occupation acts, and it lists the elements needed to count as exempt, including an analysis of the customer’s requirements. It says canned software intended for general or repeated use is taxable.
The section does not mention websites, and a site assembled from a licensed theme and plugins may not look like a custom program. Ask each agency how it treats licensed products on the invoice, and take any real money question to the Illinois Department of Revenue or your accountant. If your business is in Chicago, also ask whether any city tax applies.
The Illinois Secretary of State keeps corporation and LLC records for checking a company’s legal name.
Chicago pricing and multi-location sites
Does a Chicago agency cost more than a suburban one?
We have no published price from any of these five to compare. Send one written brief to a Chicago firm and a suburban firm, and read the difference in scope as well as price.
What should a multi-location business ask?
Ask who has built location pages or store finders before. Cybernautic names a locator tool, and Clique describes running large sets of microsites for associations. Ask both how location data is updated.
Illinois first calls by type of organization
Large organizations and associations can begin with Clique. A nonprofit that wants WordPress can talk to Idea Marketing, and a multi-branch company or a downstate business can talk to Cybernautic. For a small business west of Chicago, Aguilera covers site care in Aurora. A company that puts advertising first should compare Blackbird’s plan with any web-only quote.
We read these five companies’ pages in November 2026 and did not audit what they say about their work. They are shown in no ranked order.
